I ran across this speech last night on the internet and thought you might enjoy it. It is entitled, Raising a Child with Special Needs. I presented it a couple of years ago at a convention and it was well received. Kind of long, but the ending is the best part, I think. Put on a game of Solitaire and play while you listen. Warning: Some listeners have experienced feelings of great relief and validation. A handy box of kleenex has been recommended.

The Come Read with Me program has enjoyed a full fall schedule with additional space, students and teachers.

Steps to Support for All! An organization with a mission for education about programs, opportunities and current legislative issues, continues to work toward serving adults who are aging or have disabilities in the state of Texas The organization is the recipient of the 2006 Texas Association on Mental Retardation Presidents Award (now AAIDD).
Steps to Support for All is still going strong working as a viable stakeholder by providing information about the needs of those served by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services to Texas state legislators and agencies as well as providing resources for crisis support, such as the 2006 hurricane victims. The work they do collectively around the state of Texas is truly awe inspiring! To share your information with others or to be added to the Steps list, please send an email to Martha Kate Downey
